I was also looking for how to link a PDF I wanted to create a link in an article and this suggestion worked perfectly. Let's do is the easy way Put your PDF whereever you want it and copy down the path for an absolute link. Create a menu item whereever you want it called "My PDF". This would be an external link. Copy the exact path from above, set it to open in a new browser window with or without the web menu bar, save, and you're done.
