However, we have Virtual Image Use Rights for the host physical instance and 1 virtual machine. The Enterprise edition provides additional hardware support and some additional server roles, when compared to Standard edition. Enterprise edition supports all available roles in full including Active Directory Federation Services. The Datacenter is similar to the Enterprise edition, but provides additional hardware support. Enterprise edition supports all available roles in full.
This edition is intended to provide a low cost server edition for those who only want to use a web application server role. Other roles are not available. The Itanium edition can be used on Intel Itanium 64 bit processor.
There is no support for Terminal Services Gateway connections. Virtual Image Use Rights are unlimited. All Windows Server R2 editions except Itanium and Foundation can be installed as a server core installation.
Server core installation option provides a minimal, low-maintenance environment of Server R2. By using server core installation we reduce the attack surface of our server. Do I need to buy user or device license. Active Dir is not involved at all. All users will be local to Terminal server or I may just create a single user and have device license.
Publishing a program with RemoteApp is very simple. You'll have to manually go find iexplore. After it's published, in the bottom of the manager you should ssee RemoteApp Programs, with your iexplore. Right-click on that line and either Create. If you Create. The Installer Package could be used to deploy it via Group Policy.
Thanks for your ideas about Video over RDP. This server will have Local users only. What do I need to do in this case. I am going to finish all the reading and try it anyway. But I think I may have road blocks. I don't think it has to be a domain member in order to work, though I can't quickly find anything that says one way or another.
Things like Single Sign-On are only available in a domain situation. I clicked connect anyway, and I got authentication window. I put Terminal server local Administrator and password and it worked. I need this to setup in a way that users don't need to enter username and password. Requirements for Single-Sign-On would include the server being a member of the domain, and the client machines have to be running Vista or higher. Otherwise they will need to enter credentials. If using that server browsing multimedia sites, remember to add a sound card and enable windows audio on Server.
By default it is not supported. So hang tight, and hopefully we can get to the bottom of this : Hope this helps, Kristin L. Saturday, December 5, PM. Hi Kristin Thank you for your help with this matter. I will await the outcome of your investigations. Thanks again Paul. Sunday, December 6, AM. Hi Tomas Thank your for your post. The server is Windows Foundation server not R2. Paul, I have gotten word that the RDV Licensing team is looking at this now, and will get back to us when they have something.
So hang tight, hopefully we will know something soon! Tuesday, December 8, PM. Hi Kristin Thank you for update. Cheers, Paul. Hi, I have the exact same fault in the same situation. Foundation server part of a domain being used as a terminal server, and the ts licence cals will not install - invaild licence code.
After 3 months of trouble shooting with microsoft, we have achieved nothing. We have tried reinstalling the ts licencing, removed all roles and reinstalled terminal services and licencing only. Remove server from the domain. Even got a new ts cal key from Microsoft that didnt work either.
When the ts cal keys are checked, they seem to be vaild, but they will not work with foundation. The lastest news was this, I cut and pasted from an email. I've no idea what it means. Due to this the error is coming up. I'm now runnig up a new install on a spare box just so my cllient can continue with ts as the grace period runs out tomorrow Really crazy! Hi I have eventually managed to get this problem fixed for me through Microsoft Premier Support, I get the feeling that this is a workaround rather than a fix, and next time I come to install a Windows Foundation server, I think I am going to hit the same problem.
Hopefully the RDV Licensing team will come up with a proper fix. Thursday, December 10, PM. Paul, Glad to hear you have this working. I agree, I think something is wrong here and I am looking forward to hearing from the product group on this. More to come when I get anything Any word on the status of this?
